Trustee Spotlight: Andrew Wallace

We wanted to dig a little deeper with our current trustees about why they do what they do.
Here is our spotlight on trustee Andrew Wallace.
If you think you could make a difference contact CEO Mel Allen on mel@navigatecharity.org.uk with expressions of interest.
“It’s a privilege to be part of such a progressive and people-focussed charity.“

Q1. Why did you choose to become a trustee of Navigate specifically?
Having had a close involvement with the organisation some years ago when I had an executive role in the CIO from which Navigate was born, it seemed a very natural move to accept the invitation to become a Trustee. I knew about the strong and positive ethos of Navigate and I knew it was well managed and effectively organised. I also knew the staff had a real heart for their work and I wanted to encourage a striving for even greater success in supporting people who needed the services we’re able to offer.
Q2. What added value do you gain personally or professionally by being a trustee?
I have a sense of satisfaction by adding, in a small way, to the oversight and monitoring of Navigate’s direction and attainment. I know how valuable the support that our staff give can be for our clients and I’m continually inspired by the stories of how lives have been transformed because of what Navigate is able to offer, often in very difficult circumstances.
Q3. More broadly, what is it like to be a trustee of Navigate CIO?
The team of Trustees is very committed to continuing improvement and hugely appreciative of the excellent work undertaken by all our staff, encouraged and inspired as they are by our outstanding CEO and her senior team. It’s a privilege to be part of such a progressive and people-focussed charity and I’d encourage anyone with the appropriate skills, and who is keen to make a worthwhile contribution to their local community, to consider applying to join the Board.
Thank you Andrew for all that you do.
